It’s been a couple meetings since we’ve had news to post here, but we’re excited to announce some great updates:
- Thanks to the Planning Commission’s efforts, Brandon has been awarded a $6500 Municipal Planning Grant by the Agency of Commerce & Community Development to use in 2014 for updating the Town Plan. Be on the lookout for events on energy, transportation, flood resiliency, and other hot planning issues.
- Kevin Thornton informed the Planning Commission about the Vermont Historic Bridge Program. Brandon is considered a prime site for locating a lenticular truss bridge, like this one:
Okay, so it may not look like much now, but given a facelift and a new purpose, this bridge could really make for a great pathway amenity.
- Remember the Wildlife Corridor? Well, we do! The draft is nearly finished. Stay tuned for announcements about public hearings this winter.
- As we enter the holiday season, civic activities tend to take a back seat to cherished time with family and friends. We hope as you’re hustling and bustling through the season, perhaps during Moonlight Madness, you’ll a minute to reflect on how great it is that we can share this time in one of America’s great small towns (not to mention get our shopping done locally).
